Favourite Media: Oils and Pastels. I have tried watercolours
but I'm not delicate enough.
Preferred Subjects: Animals, landscapes, although
I have painted Pope John Paul in oils and Pope Benedict in pastels.
Favourite Painter: I don't have one.
Top Tips: Make sure you clean brushes properly before
putting them away. It ruins a good brush if left to dry with paint on
them.
Inspiration: Photos - I have painted Blackfriars Bridge
from 4 photos. taken from Waterloo Bridge. That was challenging. I also
painted Hastings Pier from a postcard size photo. I also collect pictures
from magazines. You can get good inspiration from them.
Other Comments: Join an art group but one where you
are not under pressure to finish a painting in a given time. Anyone
can 'lose their painting head' for a while but it is important to keep
going to the group. They give encouragement and support.
